Emery Barnes Park Phase 2
About the Park
Phase 1 of Emery Barnes Park, facing Richards Street, was completed in 2003. Phase 2 of the park will add 5335 m² to the existing park for a total area of 8973m² (96587 ft²). The neighbourhood park is a green refuge largely for passive recreation.
Phase 2 development includes the following works:
- asbestos survey and removal in existing buildings
- demolition of existing buildings
- environmental site assessment
- closure of lane and relocating utilities underground
- design and construction of Phase 2 based on the concept plan approved by the Board and Council in 1997
- the approved concept includes trees, a large lawn, pathway, playground and entrance features
The public had a chance to review and comment on the approved concept plan at an open house on June 19, 2008.
